Name: Preston Williams
Age: 28

Home Town: Shurz, Nevada
Preston and Kendra currently are residing in Casa Grand Arizona
during the winter season
Pets: 3 Pomeranian Dogs, named
"Hazel", "Sweetie" "Puglsee"
and a Border Collie named "Pearl"
The horse that has carried Preston
to the 1997 College Finals rodeo in Rapid City, and also last
year to winning the Team Roping event along with Blair Burk is
his Paint Horse "Daisy"
.
"I basically won everything on
her"
says Preston about this champion roping horse.
Ethnical Back Ground:
Member of the Walker River Paiute
tribe, Preston is also a descendant of the Shoshone from the
Western Shoshone, from his Mom's side of the family
Association Member of:
Western States Indian Rodeo
Assoc.
Preston also competes in the Great Plains
Indian rodeo association, in Montana, the United Indian rodeo association,
and during the winter season he competes in the South West
Indian rodeo association shows
In the PRCA circuit, it
is common to see Preston William's name in the top 50 in the Turquoise
circuit standings
Rodeo Accomplishments:
Qualified for
the High School Finals 91-93 in the calf roping and team
roping, the horse Preston rode her at the Indian Finals,
AQHA horse at the INFR finals 94.
Indian National Finals Rodeo:
Since 1991, Preston has qualified and competed at every
INFR.
1995, he won the All Around world title at INFR in Rapid
City South Dakota.
In 2001, he represented the Great Plains Indian Rodeo
association and won the Calf Roping world championship at the
INFR in Billings Montana.
1997 at the
National College Finals held in Rapid City, South Dakota;
Preston won the Team Roping event and the All Around title, all
of this while riding "Daisy"
Preston, along with Blair Burk teamed up in 2001 to enter the
Team Roping event, at the "Granddaddy of them all"
Cheyenne Frontier Days rodeo, 2001 was the first year, the event
was added to the show.

When did you start an interest in Rodeo?
"When my Dad (Fred Williams, Indian
Rodeo News.com Hall of Fame inductee) was involved, since I was
little. I have always had a strong interest in rodeo,
growing up I played in Little League - baseball and
basketball. My high school coach wanted me to pursue basketball
rather than rodeo, and then once he read about me roping and
winning, and then when I got my scholarship to rodeo, did
then he realized why I wanted to focus professionally on
rodeo"
Do you have a lucky piece that you carry with you when you compete?
"No I am not superstitious"
What other sports other than rodeo do you enjoy?
"Basketball and a little bit of golf"
What is the funniest thing that you have seen or experienced at a rodeo?
"Watching PRCA rodeo clown Flint Rasmussen"
What Indian Cowboy/Cowgirl influenced you to Rodeo?
"My Dad, Fred Williams"
What advice would you give to Indian youth about rodeo or anything in general?
"Have faith in yourself, don't be afraid to chase
your dreams. So many talented kids can do a lot with their own
talents but don't pursue them strong enough to "
Is their any songs that inspire or pump you up before you ride or rope?
"No"
What would you like to see more of at Indian Rodeo's?
