Derrick Davis




Update: I would like to take this time to Congratulate Derrick Davis. Who won the Navajo Nation Bullriding, back to back. 2002 and 2003.He also won the A-bar-C bullriding, and took a saddle home. He won that show 3 years in a row. He is also leading the C.N.R.A,this year. Derrick is really something. When I go to see him ride, he always gives a good show, and a good ride. Mostly winning all the bullriding, every weekend on the Navajo Nation.He makes a living doing something he loves and that's Bullriding.He makes a good role model for the native youth bullriders.So keep up the good work

and am leading in both standings, including the Super 8 series bull riding circuit. 



Rodeo Accomplishments:    
1999, 2002, I won the Double Arm Bull riding tour and was a runner up in 1998.  

Winning the Six Pack Bull riding series in 1999.  

And was the runner up in 1998, 2000, 2001, in the Six Pack bull riding series.  

And was the runner up in the CNRA, 1998, 20001, 

Bacca Rough Stock series 2000 runner up

 Won the Navajo Nation Fair last year 2002!!!  




When did you start an interest in Rodeo? 

 "When I was 12 years old, I was influenced to ride on my own, all the brothers started riding so I decided to ride too" 

Do you have a lucky piece that you carry with you when you compete?  
"Nope, just my gear bag"


What other sports other than rodeo do you enjoy? 

"Fishing, and riding bikes"  

What is the funniest thing that you have seen or experienced at a rodeo? 

"The Bull hitting me over the gate" 



What advice would you give to Indian youth about rodeo or anything in general?  

"I would tell them to start practicing first, learn the basics, and then move on from there"  

 

Who influence you to rodeo?  "The guys from the PRCA rodeo, Tuff Hedeman, Jim Sharp, Ty Murray, looking at them, made me want to ride," 




Is their any songs that inspire or pump you up before you ride or rope?  "ACDC" 



What is your favorite band or singer?  "Too many of them to choose, but ACDC"


What is your favorite Western Movie? 
"John Wayne" or "Clint Eastwood  movies"

What would you like to see more of at Rodeo's? 

"More younger contestants, more better judges, more people, more fans"
