Tee Woolman – NFR is just Another Cowboy Christmas Hey There Tee: The summer/ fall is gone but the finals are here now! We at Indian Rodeo News wish you the very best at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo this week. Tee has been a repeated contestant for many years, and I believe he’ll be back again next year. Here are some of Tee’s Rodeo captions from the summer. Good Luck Cowboy! Indian Country
is cheering for you! Cowboys had a better chance than usual to earn extra money over the weekend because of the number of rodeos available. There were 34 sanctioned rodeos that took place over the Fourth of July weekend and thirteen of these rodeos included more than $4,500 added money. Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Arizona, Montana, Arkansas, Alberta, Canada, Oregon, and North Dakota to name a few are all hosting rodeos over the Fourth of July holidays. Local favorite and Hall of Famer Tee Woolman was one of those cowboys that took advantage of the opportunity. Woolman and returning partner Patrick Smith started their run on Thursday, the 24th of June when they ran their first steer in the team roping at Greeley, Colorado. Greeley is approximately 995 miles away from Llano but well worth the trip. Woolman and Smith took second place in the first round with a 4.6 second run and picked up $1,964. Woolman has had plenty of quick runs in his career but this 4 second run placed him as the fifth cowboy in the sport of rodeo to win over 2 million dollars in career earnings. From there Woolman went 744 miles to Pecos, Texas to run his first steer in the steer roping on the 28th and the team roping. After placing in the first round in Pecos, Woolman and Smith headed back to Greeley for their second steer in the team roping. With a run of 5.5 seconds the pair were leading the average and had earned a trip back to Greeley for the Tour Round on Saturday the 3rd. The team picked up from Greeley and headed 458 miles to Cody, Wyoming. Woolman and Smith roped that morning with no success then headed 188 miles to Livingston, Montana for a run that evening. Red Lodge, Montana is where the duo roped the next morning then traveled 639 miles to Belle Fourche, South Dakota that evening for another steer. Saturday, July 3rd Woolman was back in Pecos for his third and final steer in the steer roping and the longest leg of his trip. Woolman and Smith were back in Greeley on the 3rd for the Tour Round in the team roping. They won 3rd in the average with a 6.3 second run and earned more ProRodeo Tour points towards the Pace Picante ProRodeo Challenge in Omaha, Nebraska scheduled for September 23rd through the 25th. Woolman traveled over 5,000 miles over the Fourth of July weekend and had over 75 hours of travel time. He climbed the Jack Daniels World Standings and earned tour points in the Wrangler ProRodeo Tour. The Hall of Famer passed the 2 million dollars mark in career earnings and is working for his fourth World Championship. Not bad for the 47 year old cowboy.
