When did you start an interest in rodeo?
Rodeo
as been in all of our lives, I come from a big rodeo
family, My Mom and Dad both come from big rodeo families.
Ranching and Rodeo is our life.
What other sports other than rodeo do you enjoy? NFL Football, I like to watch football.
What
is the funniest thing that you have seen or experienced at a
rodeo? I
have to think about that one for a while.
At an Indian rodeo my cousin went head over heels over
a horse, which was pretty funny.
What advice would you give to Indian youth about rodeo or
anything in general?
Get off the reservation,
it’s always going to be there, go to college, leave
home and get out.
What
advice would you give to Indian youth who wanted to
participate in rodeo but didn’t have the resources or
support to get involved?
There are small rodeo schools to
get involved in, I tell the kids to come out to our arena and
we’ll help them. My
Dad is always trying to help the kids, there are talented kids
on the reservation, we try as much as we can to work with them
and help them in any way we can.
Are
their any songs that inspire or pump you up before you ride or
rope? No
not really, I like to listen to old country music Merle
Haggard….
What would you like to see more of at Indian Rodeos? I haven’t been to that many,
would like to see more folks at rodeos, need more Indian
cowboys in rodeos. There
are not as many Indian bronc riders up here like there used to
be, so we need more Indian cowboys riding.
What
are/is your favorite western movie(s)?
Jeremiah Johnson, Lonesome Dove.
What
is your favorite music?
Old Country music, Rock music.
What
was your most memorable ride or run?
At the HS finals in 2000, my
senior year when I made the short round, I knew I had a chance
at the title, the previous years I never made the short round,
I bucked off, so that year was the most memorable.
Who
is your all time hero?
My Dad and all of my Uncles that
helped me out.
What Indian Cowboy or Cowgirl has influenced you to rodeo?
My Dad and my Uncles, and Howard
Hunter.
