Go Get Em' BLAIR BURK
Durant, Oklahoma is the home of Native American Cowboy Blair
Burk. A Choctaw
Tribal Member and a Cowboy
sponsored by his Choctaw Tribe- Blair
Burk ,Tie-Down Roping, Team Roping (Header) of the
Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association.
Blair and his wife Tawna and daughter Teely have not
just - another "Road Trip".
They are heading for the National Finals Rodeo in Las
Vegas, Nevada again. Blair has qualified for his tenth trip to
the National Finals Rodeo.
Blair Burk has not won a World Title JUST yet!
But your closing in well and your Native American fans
are cheering for you Blair!
We are hoping and praying that this is the year you
will bring home "The Gold".
Just two years ago, Blair bought Grumpy
from Brent Lewis, a PRCA Cowboy from Pinion, New Mexico and
Tie down roper. Grumpy
was nominated as- The
American Quarter Horse Association "Horse of the Year".
I do believe - the buy of the century was for-
"Grumpy". Grumpy
is just flat working his rope these days, He is just one of
those outstanding horse atheletes that just wont quit working
well, Im sure
when Blair bought Grumpy… They had some kinks to work out…
Well.. Blair! The
kinks are OUT! And hey ya'll… Don’t
get me wrong, The
Burk family have been in the horse training business for a
very long time. And they have produced some fine roping stock off of
their ranch in Durant, Oklahoma.
If your ever in need of a good Calf Roping Horse,
Give Barry and Blair Burk a call.
Blair's father Barry Burk won the Tie
down World Championship in the early sixty and seventy's and
was also inducted into the Professional Cowboys Hall of Fame
in 1994. We will
see Barry in the roping box helping Blair again this year.
A long year ago, Blair
Burk learned about dealing with circumstances beyond his
control. A ProRodeo cowboy since 1993, the Oklahoma tie-down
roper brushes aside bad luck like dust from his boots.
Emergency appendectomy that might cost
him thousands of dollars, not to mention a possible world
championship? No big deal.
Burk underwent surgery on Oct. 30 in
Kansas City, Mo., a procedure that cost him a chance to
compete in the Pace Picante ProRodeo Classic, presented by the
Texas Stampede (held Nov. 7-9 in Dallas). While Burk watched,
his replacement, Ricky
Hyde (Mt. Vernon, Ark.) hauled in a rodeo-high $25,535.
Some of Burk's top competitors for the
world championship also made hay while Burk healed at the Pace
Classic. Fred Whitfield earned $6,267, Cody
Ohl collected $3,427 and Trevor
Brazile earned $2,448.

Burk finished second in the world tie-down roping
standings in 2002.
|

"It's out of my control," said
Burk, who is ranked third in the Jack Daniel's World Tie-Down
Roping Standings with $109,896. "Nobody knows why it
happened. It happens to a lot of people. It's an
uncontrollable deal, and nobody knows when, why or what
for."
Burk's best has certainly been impressive
since he began his career in 1993. He finished second in the
world tie-down roping standings in 2002 and is an eight-time
qualifier for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. He hasn't
won a world championship, but he's won more than $1.3 million
in his career.
Every
year the Tie down roping race is wire to wire, we see some
records broke, hearts broke..
Boy! But, with a lil prayer of - Good draws, Good
ground, and a Good sound mind… We'll see some good competition again. But Hey! With
the likes of these Stats!
Go Get Em Blair!
