Navajo Technical College Student Qualifies for NIRA National championships in Bull riding:

Crownpoint, NM. For the first time in school history, NTC rodeo team has produced a Grand Canyon Champion in Bull riding. Lane Al Charley, second year student and second year card holder for the NIRA won the year-end Grand Canyon Region prove to the rest of the constants that he was the want to beat on each rodeo.

Riding in all Grand Canyon region rodeos, Lane Al Charley maintained a good distance in points and at the end of the season; he earned 560points to be named Grand Canyon Bull Riding Champion. Nationally he is ranked 10th under NIRA. Coach Jackson Craig attributes his success to his work ethic, dedication and most of all his commitment to excellence. He is currently majoring in Construction Technology and carrying a 3.6 GPA. Mr. Charley is also a former member and product of the Indian Junior Rodeo Association. “He stated that it’s a goal he set for himself and accomplished it and he looks forward to continuing as a student athlete at NTC. Going to Nationals is a dream come true for me, and I hope to do the best for myself and the college “. Mr. Charley has provided the rodeo team leadership on and off the NTC Campus. He will be in Casper, WY in June to try and win the National title in Bull Riding.
